Haven’t blogged since February – a LOT has happened since and there’s a lot to record and reflect on.
Unit 2 has been and gone, with three projects to submit:
1 – Materials exchange – Khloe sent me a book on Weeds, from which I had to produce some work by integrating it into my practice. I ended up customising a suit which represented the ‘Insider’ with different fabrics representing ‘outsiders’ bursting through the seams (‘cracks’) in the wall.
2 – Map of MAIP – mapping positionality and creative practices, me in relation to others. My map was a tablescape with a setting for everyone from the cohort , but with subtle differences to signal to our own positionality.
3 – Presentaiton on Georgie’s methods – sent her Trifon Zarezan tradition.
Reflection :
Map was slightly misunderstood – native – not the right word, yellow spoon was seen as derogatery – not the intention!! Didn’t resolve ‘food’ – pieces of paper very basic, not linked to personal creative practices.
UNIT 3
Was very stuck on what to make ‘conversation’ about – discuss diverse positions and ways of viewing and knowing
Reading through brief, what to consider

Potential theme : KITSCH ! + Insider / Outsider / Taste
Axiological – value related
Cross section of ethics and aesthetics
What is taste, what is ‘good’ and what is ‘bad’ taste, what is linked to?
Social acceptance?
Insider vs outisder?
Tourist vs local?
